Family party's include Wedding receptions,
anniversaries, Engagement

and its likely the audience will cover a wide age
range. This can make it more tricky for the DJ to
judge the right tune selection. In an average party
the DJ may play as few as 70 to 80 tracks so there's
not much room for error. Requests on the night help,
but requests will often come from kids who want the
same track six times. A DJ will not make the party
a success by playing a chart selection and then switching
to a selection of hits from yester year to even things
out. A good DJ will have the experience to select
tracks that are popular with everyone and get gran
on the dance floor with her teenage grand children.

of 10 music tastes become a bit more selective, and
kids prefer a more grown up music mix. At a School
party disco the DJ needs to use discretion. Often

are always Welcome
Some Dj's have a set order of play and stick to it
no matter what, and hate taking requests. In fact
some people seem surprised we can change the tunes
to include most requests. We do this by adapting a
fluid response and adapting to the changing dance
floor situation quickly. However, we cant play every
request because some simply will not work or are inappropriate
for the occasion (check the link for more info on
this). Requests on the night are always welcome, it
creates a feeling of ownership and helps to generate
a feeling of collective good will, but at times discretion
needs to be used.
